Baby renamed Chloe
Here's some pictures of Chloe. As you will see she is settling in just fine. She has made good friends with my sister's dog, and she is traveling pretty well when we go to visit my parents in
Lansing.

She has adjusted well to apartment life also. She doesn't bark and seems to be a good girl while I am at work. She has done so well I haven't even needed to kennel her, she just lays on the couch or the blankets I have for her in the living room.

I'll send more pictures and updates this summer when she has her first camping experience. We have a place on Lake Michigan near Muskegon, lots of fun.

Bacon renamed Marley

This is Lisa.

Our family adopted Bacon.  Well, first let me mention that Bacon is NOT his name.  We named him Marley and it fits him.  He knew his name the day after we started calling him by it.  It's not Marley from the movie though.  He's nothing like that dog, but we all liked the name.  Marley is doing great.  He's a wonderful dog and our family loves him to death!  We are so happy that we found him.  He loves attention and loves to play.  We got him all kinds of toys but he chewed most of them up.  We learned quickly to get him fairly indestructible toys.  He loves to chew!!!!!  He loves to drink water too!!!   I think he needs to go outside more than he should but we are working on that.  Marley likes to go with me to pick up Cory from school everyday.  I don't walk, of course. This weather is too cold but Marley likes riding in the van and waiting for Cory.  We did learn that Marley doesn't like long trips though.  We took him running around last weekend and he threw up twice.  :(  I'm sure he isn't used to traveling.  He'll get used to it though.  We plan to take him with us everywhere he is able to go.  We have to be careful with raising our voice to Marley.  I don't know what his previous owner was like, but if my husband raises his voice to loudly and tells Marley "No!"  He gets scared and nervous and dribbles.  Marley loves to follow me around the house during the day.  He's always right by my side.  Cory taught him how to sit and lay down and get on his bed.  Jordan loves playing tug of war with Marley.  He can't believe how strong he is.  We let Marley play in our front yard a little while ago while my husband was shoveling the snow off the street.   We weren't sure how he would react; if he would stay close or take off.  He did great!  He enjoyed jumping over the snow mounds and eating the snow.  He played fetch with one of his favorite toys also.  I'll send you more updates as time goes on, if you would like. loves playing tug of war with Marley. He can't believe how strong he is.We let Marley play in our front yard a little while ago while my husband was shoveling the snow off the street. We weren't sure how he would react; if he would stay close or take off.He did great! He enjoyed jumping over the snow mounds and eating the snow.He played fetch with one of his favorite toys also.I'll send you more updates as time goes on, if you would like.

Bandit renamed Sammy
Hi,
It's coming up on a week now, and things are going well. He's really bonded to my german shepherd Sally, and my older dog Lexi is starting to warm up. She even played with him a little yesterday. Sam is chasing my cat a little too much, so I am working on that. My cat has been really nice to him so far though. He thumps Sam on the head with his paw if he gets too annoyed, but hasn't pulled out the claws yet. Sam is sitting real nicely, after a couple wild jumps, and almost maintains it while waiting for a treat. He seems really smart. He is learning not to jump on me already, which takes a lot of emotional control for such a lively little pup. Tug of war with Sally is a hoot because she just sits there while he does his tasmanian devil best to pull it away. She keeps stealing Sam's stuff in an attempt to get him to chase her all over the yard, which works some of the time - enough to get her a workout. They do a lot of wrestling, where he pounces all over Sally, and she pushes him over with her neck or her big paw once in a while . Sam has figured out how to get a racquetball in his mouth now - Sally's favorite toy since they bounce.  He LOVES that bounce! Sally is an AMAZING frisbee player, so I'll start working with Sam on that soon. I'm sure he will be spectacular with his quickness and incredible jumping ability. I start with teaching him to catch little bean bags, and then with a small indoor frisbee, then a bigger one, then a small version of a real frisbee. Then my husband gets involved, with his super frisbee arm. It's really fun. My biggest challenge is sleep right now, but I keep trying different strategies. Each night is an improvement. Potty training is off and on, since he will hold it to the very last minute if it is too cold outside. I'm trying to remember to walk him into the back yard every couple hours and that helps. He's pretty much mastered the doggy door. We just found the camera battery charger, so I'll send you pictures soon. Maybe I could post some video on youtube too. We are starting doggy obedience training with Sally this week to make her leash walking a little better and her recall a lot better I hope. The place we are going to trains german shepherds for all kinds of things like police work, search and rescue, and also trains dogs and owners in various dog sports and agility. They raise german shepherds and Jack Russells, so I think will be perfect for helping us train these smart puppies. We would really like to be able to go anywhere with them off-leash or on, so that takes a lot of training. I have taken Sam on a couple leash walks. He is still a little puppy, and was afraid of a few things in spite of all that bravado, including my very tall neighbor Don. Don must seem like a moving 20-story building to Sam. So I will be working with him a lot on neighborhood socialization this spring. Sam's belly spots are getting darker and more numerous, and he is growing like a weed, so I really am not sure how big he will be in the end. That boy sure can put away the dog chow :) Thanks for caring for Sam. We are very happy with him :)
Best Wishes, Chris

Hi again,
Here are a few pictures of Sammy and my other dogs, Sally (German Shepherd) and Lexi (pound puppy). Sammy keeps growing! Sally is a small Shepherd and weighs 75 pounds, so maybe you can get an idea.  They play all day :)
Best Wishes, Chris

Becca renamed Tink
We adopted a black lab 10 w/o female puppy spring 2009 at the Waterford Bowling Ailey.  Her foster name was Becca, I think, Bonnie her foster mom.  She had pretty tough paws to fill but has exceeded the joy I had from my last dog, she was a mommies dog.  Tink may turn
that way too.  I take her on runs in a wooded park a several times/wk.  She has become my running partner.  I can't keep up with her especially when she sees a deer.  We help each other get the exercise we both need.
Attached is a family Christmas card.  I hope all the families who adopt from you or any rescue are paired with the perfect family match as Tink was to ours.
Merry Christmas!
Eva Persha

Bentley
Hello,

I'm not sure if these will display correctly or not so please let me know if you can't open them.  Thank you so much for giving Bentley to Olivia (my daughter).  Although he's for all of us and we would have loved any one we brought home, her eye was on him.  He had a very busy afternoon even though we tried to keep things quiet for him.  One of the pics is of him in a cage that he seems to be very familiar with.  Perhaps you had one like it at your home.  He preferred to go in it to sleep, and just recently he chose to come out and is currently sleeping next to it.

He came home and explored our front yard including my landscape and discovered my bleeding heart, which we didn't let him eat (don't know if it's poisonous to him) so we got him away and he would go right back to it.  We introduced the back yard and he seems so very very small in it!  He still has not explored the whole part yet.  He played with the water as we washed out the cage.  We had a lot of fun with him today.  He still needs his other half of his cough pill for tonight.  Going to give him it as soon as I'm done with this mail.  (Should have did it after dinner...need to get back in the swing of things)  He did cough a bit on and off today and he has not barked.  I don't know if it's because he has the cough...like maybe a sore throat or something?  We'll see.

Again, thank you for all you do for all of these dogs and thanks for giving Bentley to us.  (We think his name is going to stay the same)

Bingo renamed Lucy
We adopted Bingo (now Lucy) at the Whitmore Lake Harvest Fest.  She's just awesome.  Thank you for doing what you do.  She's developing into such a great dog.  What a waste it would have been for her to have been a victim of a kill shelter.

Bitzy renamed Mallory
Hi,

A couple things.  Yes, we did change her name to Mallory - we call her Mally.  We went through tons of names - believe me it was a tough call on what to call her - we had 7 people trying to come up with the perfect name.  But, we all have decided that Mally fits her perfect.  (Well, except Cam our 8 year old - he hates the name - he wanted Taylor :)

Mally is doing great!  She cried the first night 40 min, the second night 10 min, and now she doesn't cry at all when she goes in her kennel at night.  I get up at about 2:00 a.m. to let her out and then again at 6:00 a.m. and that has been working out great - no accidents the past few nights!  We just really love her - she's a great dog and just a sweetie.  She is "biting" a lot, but that is to be expected.  She is going Feb. 8 to be micro chipped - just in case.

So, do you know for a fact that she has Lab in her?  Was her mom a Lab?  The Vet thought she was Beagle/Spaniel mix.  I've only had labs and goldens - I know nothing about these other 2 breeds.  But, I have done my research now on them and they seem like great dogs - just don't let a Beagle off it's leash ever!!  Which is fine with us.  I was just curious if the shelter had told you the mom was a Lab or something or if it's your guess.

Anyway, we can't adopt her brother too.  But, I'm working on my neighbor to adopt him :)  I'll let you know.

Know that Mally is so loved.  She's in a good home and she's doing great.  We are so pleased - thank you again for choosing us for her.

Talk to you soon -

Nicole

Hi again,

Mally is doing great!  We love her.  She loves to snuggle and play and just be loved.  And, the kids have been doing great with her too.   We went to Disney for a week and left her with my sister (who has a lab) and she gained a  little wait.  ;)  She is so smart too.  She is not perfect with the whole "potty" thing yet, but at least she goes to the door now, and if she has an accident - it's our fault.  We have been training her to ring a bell when she has to go out and she does it, just not loud enough for us to hear.  So, you have to be paying attention.  She's not really biting very much anymore either.

We have found that she must be part cat though - she's loves to jump!  She jumps on the kitchen table, I have found her on the counter, and gates - well she climbs over them.  So we've given up on trying to "gate" her out of certain spots in the house.  She has made it through the night for a few weeks now without any accidents too.

We got her micro-chipped a couple weeks ago too - she didn't really seem to mind that - phew.

I will send pictures - I just am so busy with her and the 5 kids.

Hope the other dogs are doing well too.  So do you ever hear from any of the other owners?  How are they all doing?

Talk to you soon - Take care

Nicole

(Mally too - she's snuggled up on my lap right now sleeping - I love her!!!!)

BoDean renamed Simon
Hi,
I had mailed out a copy of the records for Simon (new name) from the Fowlerville Vet Clinic. I will ask them for a new copy and get that sent out.
He is so much fun and I'm glad I was able to pick him... or more like he picked me! I've included some pictures of him also. Have you heard from the family that picked his sister?

Brandy renamed Isabella

Sorry it took me so long to write, these are the most recent pictures of Isabella. She is currently 4.3lbs and full of excitement and energy. She loves being around people and other dogs and everybody loves to be around her as well. Isabella now lives with me at my parent’s house in Brooklyn, MI. I'm still planning on her getting spayed in April so you will be hearing from me soon. I'm so glad I found her through your rescue.  I'm still planning on her getting spayed in April so you will be hearing from me soon. I'm so glad I found her through your rescue.
