Daisy renamed Maisey Mae
Hi,

I want to give you an update on the terrier mix my wife and I adopted last Friday, November 27. After input from all her adoring new fans at our post thanksgiving family gathering (17 dog lovers, each and every one) we settled on her new name, Maisey Mae. She is almost housebroken. No accidents today or Tuesday, knock on wood.

She loves playing with our other dog, and our other dog enjoys her company. They are both sleeping on the floor behind me as I write.

Each day including Friday she had a long walk with our other dog, a flat coated retriever from the Marquette, MI humane society. She caught a mole yesterday and brought it to me quite proudly. She has been alone in her crate a grand total of two hours since coming home. The rest of the time she has been with family members. She is good about dropping slippers as chew toys and accepting dog toys to chew on. She quickly found the dog "toy basket" and helps herself when she wants to chew. She does not put her toys away very well . . . Maisey Mae loves to meet new people and other dogs. We are going to get her chipped very soon because our favorite local pet store is sponsoring a chipping day this week or next. Great technology.
Sincerely,
Tom VanDragt

Dakota renamed Coty

Coty is such a loveable dog.  He sits, stays, comes when you call him...if he is not too busy exploring something...he is...for the most part, housebroken and loves his kennel which is next to our bed every night.  He seldom complains about anything yet is vocal when he plays or wants something.  He just loves kids and other dogs and taking afternoon naps in my arms....he is getting too big for that now.  Just wanted to bring you up to date on Coty's progress.  Photos attached.

Darby renamed Ollie
Hi,
We are the family that adopted Darby.  We renamed him Ollie and he has been a good little puppy, he sleeps with my daughter every night.
We can't wait to see what he is really going to look like when he grows older.  I know you said collie but he has something else. He is so funny, he learned how to fetch the ball he learns really quick.  We take him everywhere we go, he's apart of the family now. We will send you some pictures after Easter, and we will keep you posted.  Your a great person to foster those animals, I would get attached to them and wouldn't be able to let them go.
Take care and have a great Easter!!!!!
Denise

Darcie renamed Dexter (Darcie's sister Dixie was adopted by the same family)
The puppies are doing great. They are very happy already running around the backyard and chasing my son. No adjustment problems as of now. They slept all night and got up at 6:15am. They are very close and I can see why you wanted them to stay together. I will send you pictures soon. We did change Darcie's name to Dexter. We kept Dixie's name the same.
Sincerely,
Karen Sangregorio

Desi
Dear Take My Paw,
In September, my husband and I went to one of your adoption events to meet some of the puppies that your volunteers were fostering.  One in particular had caught our eye on PetFinder, and although we visited with all the dogs at the event, we kept coming back to that little black-and-white border collie mix, Desi.  One of your volunteers let Desi out of his crate so that we could get to know him, and he crawled right into our laps and gave us lots of kisses.  We were immediately smitten.  We'd only planned to visit the pups, and then go home to think over the adoption, but before we knew it, we were picking out a collar and filling out the adoption paperwork.  Desi came home with us that afternoon, and has brought us immeasurable joy ever since.
With lots of exercise and good food, Desi has grown from 20 pounds to over 40 in just a few months.  Just like the day we met him, he still likes to cuddle up in our laps, although it's getting harder and harder for him to fit!  He was the most boisterous little guy in his obedience class, but came through with flying colors and can now sit, stay, roll over, speak, and come. . . most of the time!  He's won over both of our families, even the relatives who are "not dog people."  Although he gets into mischief from time to time-- like sneaking waffles off the counter this past Sunday-- we're glad that we took the leap and brought him home with us that afternoon.
The fact that Desi came to us so sweet-tempered and nearly house-trained speaks volumes about the people who fostered him, and I hope that they enjoy the pictures that I'm sending.  The first three pictures are from the day that we brought Desi home, the fourth was taken just before Halloween, and the last was taken about a month ago.  I wish you could see him playing in the snow, but he just won't stand still long enough for me to get a picture!
In closing, thank you for providing us with such a great dog!  When we start looking for a four-legged friend for Desi, we'll certainly come to Take My Paw first!
Sincerely,
Sarah, Mike, and Desi Bocik

Diamond-in-the-Ruff renamed Striker
Diamond is doing awesome!  We renamed him "Striker" which is a soccer term for the goal scorer on a soccer team.  He has adapted to the family so quickly.  It's almost like he has been here for years.  The kids have fallen in love with him and he really loves their attention.  I have become his " go to person" however and he rarely leaves my side.  We walk him everyday and he plays with his toys.  He sleeps in our beds and has pretty much gotten the bathroom scheduling down.  We continued to feed him the grain free food and he has gotten used to the brand we are feeding him.  He loves grain free treats and he goes directly to the pantry after he does his business outside for a treat (he's pretty darn smart).  We really got lucky with adopting him and he is a part of the family now.  Thanks so much for doing what you do for the animals and we appreciate you considering us as his new family.  I will send some pictures soon.

Regards,
Tim LeBlanc

Dodger
Hello we have had Dodger for about  a year and he is doing great!   He is still all puppy and insists on being part of all of our family activities (including sitting on the coach and watching TV) which is just fine with us.  Some really funny things he does:  once during American Idol, we paused the TV when Randy Jackson was on screen.  Dodger is not partial to men he doesnt know, and he would not stop growling and barking at the TV until we started it playing again.  He is a great exterminator:  Whenever an ant or other stray bug gets in the house, he rears up and stomps them with both his front paws until they stop moving.  He loves to sleep on his back with his belly fully exposed, loves walks (of course) and he plays with cue balls from a pool table.  Tennis balls do not hold up well when he is around.  He has finally stopped eating my shoes and our other dogs pillows.  He does however chew collars right off of her neck!  We love him dearly and I am pretty sure he loves us as well!  Thanks for a great addition to our family.  I always recommend your group when I hear of people looking for a new pet.
The Thomas Family.

Domonique renamed Sadie
Happy New Year Take My Paw!

We wanted to give you an update on the most wonderful addition to our family!

For years my husband has been asking to have a dog come into our family. I have never been a dog owner, so I spent much of my time resisting and making up excuses. My husband on the other hand, spent his entire childhood and many years of his adult life as a dog owner. I found every excuse possible. My children were very fearful of dogs so I used that as an excuse also! One day in August my husband sent me a picture of a
very cute dog named “Domonique.” I agreed to at least go see her at the Tractor Supply Company in Howell. On August 29th we made our way to the back of the store. We spotted Dominique immediately and my husband had me hold her first. I was instantly sold. Our daughters also held her and were in love. She was shaking and was a bit scared but we loved on her as much as we could. We filled out the paperwork, made our donation and off we went. I held her all the way home and the rest is history. We are now the proud owners of Sadie, as we so lovingly renamed her. Sadie is such an amazingly good dog. She is so loving to everyone she meets! She was potty trained quickly and even rings the bell to go outside. She’s learned many tricks and provides us with an endless supply of unconditional love. She even sleeps in our bed! (something I swore I would never allow!) Although I have nothing to compare Sadie to, my husband continually insists that she is a very sweet and remarkable dog. Our daughters love her tremendously. She has changed our lives and is the perfect addition to our family. Our family Christmas picture included Sadie this year as well. I can’t believe how very much I love my dog. Thank for all you do for animals and for providing such a blessing for us! May God Bless you all in 2010!

The Hunter Family

Brent, Rosheen, Amira, Genevieve and Sadie!
